Bahrain Awards BD79.4m in Government Contracts in June, Led by Bapco Upstream

Government procurement activity in Bahrain accelerated in June, with officials recording BD79.4 million in contracts awarded across multiple public bodies. According to figures cited in the Official Gazette, the awards covered 121 tenders ranging from brand-new agreements to contract renewals and change orders.

The distribution highlights how large-scale energy and utility organizations dominated the bidding results, while other ministries and independent authorities received smaller, but still significant, allocations for sector-specific needs.

Largest awards go to Bapco and energy-related bodies

Bapco Upstream secured the biggest portion of June awards by value, winning four tenders worth BD14.8 million. The Electricity and Water Authority ranked next in terms of volume of awards, issuing 18 contracts totaling BD13.9 million. In addition, the oil sector accounted for eight public tenders that together came to nearly BD9.98 million.

Health, planning and transport projects also funded

In the health sector, the Supreme Council of Health issued four tenders valued at BD7.48 million. The Urban Planning and Development Authority received one contract worth BD4.14 million. Other recipients included the Works Ministry, which handed out 13 contracts worth a combined BD2.89 million.

A cluster of ministries and authorities received mid-range awards

Several government entities reported awards in the mid-range band. These included the Industry and Commerce Ministry with three tenders worth BD3.2 million, and Gulf Air Group, which received two awards totaling BD3.85 million. The Information and eGovernment Authority awarded three contracts worth BD1.78 million, while the National Bureau for Revenue issued one contract valued at BD1.49 million.

Smaller tenders extend across a wide set of sectors

At the lower end of the list, awards were documented for entities including the Civil Service Bureau, the Education Ministry, and multiple healthcare-related bodies. The Gazette also recorded funding for areas such as dispute resolution, youth affairs, telecommunications regulation, transportation and agriculture-related procurement, reflecting the broad spread of June contracting activity.
