Kezad aims to boost food security with integrated hub

Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (Kezad Group) is striving to achieve 

the UAE’s vision of becoming the world’s best on the Global Food Security Index by 2051. Kezad’s latest projects include a dairy farm, with an investment of AED650 million, which will be home to 10,000 Al Rawabi cows and increase their export efforts across the wider GCC region. 

The UAE unveils its first saffron farm 

Agritech leader Veggitech recently unveiled a Saffron farm in Sharjah, the first of its kind the UAE and largest in the Mena region. The farm boasts fully smart built-in systems to manage the entire farming process from temperature control to irrigation systems, which will produce healthier crops and reduce land and water usage. 

Bahrain’s energy vision revealed 

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of Nogaholding, outlined Bahrain’s energy vision in front of the world’s energy leaders in a keynote speech at CERAWeek 2023.  He outlined how Bahrain plans to achieve the nation’s COP26 and Net-Zero targets by significantly increasing domestic energy efficiency through new infrastructure requirements at both the consumer and commercial levels. The Bapco Modernization Program is currently being constructed, which will be one of the most efficient, complex, and modern refineries in the region.

Saudi’s Modon seals $285mn deals for food factories

Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (Modon) has signed several contracts and agreements worth US$285 million to localise the food and beverage industry in the kingdom. 

Modon signed an agreement with the Jordan Valley Company for Food Industries to establish a factory for the production of grains and legumes, as well as a new F&B commodities factory, in partnership with Kuwaiti Danish Dairy Company. Another contract was signed with Siniora Food Industries Company to establish a factory for the production of frozen and chilled meat. 

RedSea launches operations at greenhouse facility in Abu Dhabi

Innovative AgTech company RedSea will bring its pioneering technology to a new greenhouse facility in UAE. The facility will be powered by 2,000 sqm of elevated solar panels, with protected crops grown under the panels and heat-blocking net. The technology in the new facility is a first for the country and it will help diversify food product sources and stimulate the region’s agri-food sectors.
