Al Ain Farms Group (AAFG), a prominent UAE food producer, is partnering with FoodIQ, a Finnish technology company, to implement innovative agricultural solutions. The collaboration seeks to significantly decrease energy and water usage while also enhancing the nutritional quality of their products.
Eco-Friendly Food Production
AAFG, established in 1981, offers a wide range of products from dairy and poultry to juices and eggs. By working with FoodIQ, they plan to introduce an eco-friendly system which enables food to be produced on a large scale in a relatively small area, about the size of a large office. The system also aims to eliminate the necessity for preservatives in their food production.
Multilayer Cooker Technology
At the core of this partnership is FoodIQ’s patented multilayer cooker (MLC). This advanced food processing system reduces energy and water consumption, facilitating the production of additive-free dairy and plant-based products. The UAE will be the first location outside of Finland to implement this system.
Supporting National Goals
Hassan Safi, group chief executive of Al Ain Farms Group, emphasized the importance of local food production in the UAE, especially with reduced resources. This deal will support national food security and climate goals. This initiative aligns with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 strategic plan. The MLC also helps the dairy maker to produce high-quality products without additives or preservatives, with an estimated 20% to 30% increase in operational speed.
Looking Ahead
FoodIQ and Al Ain Farms anticipate launching new products in the UAE by the end of 2025. The MLC will be integrated into AAFG’s facility in Al Ain, establishing a model for sustainable food manufacturing in a resource-constrained environment. The collaboration could prove that the future of food production emphasizes smartness and efficiency over scale.
