Philippine government along with Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has started their coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) livelihood intervention project using aquaponics as a first step. This is by handing out ten units of aquaponics structure to the cities of Legazpi, Ligao, and Tabaco in Albay; Iriga and Naga in Camarines Sur; Sorsogon City in Sorsogon; and in Catanduanes State University in Catanduanes. This will help demonstrate the capacity and the potential of aquaponic systems farming by successfully aiming to raise catfish and tilapia along with growing vegetables, a major incentive for farmers or workers with little space and living far from freshwater and water bodies in general.
