Work on the infrastructure for the new agricultural project in Buri has advanced to 87 per cent, marking a significant step toward completion before the end of 2026. Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak confirmed the progress during an inspection visit to the site, where senior officials reviewed the latest stages of development. The project forms part of Bahrain’s wider efforts to strengthen agricultural capacity, improve supporting facilities and encourage more efficient use of land dedicated to food production. Officials said the visit was aimed at assessing the pace of work and ensuring the scheme remains on track.
Minister Reviews Site Progress
Mr Al Mubarak toured the project with Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, secretary-general of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development, and Agriculture and Animal Wealth Affairs Under-Secretary Asim Abdulla. The delegation was briefed on the remaining phases of infrastructure work and the preparations needed before the site can move toward full completion.
Support for Local Agriculture
The Buri project is expected to contribute to Bahrain’s agricultural development by providing upgraded infrastructure for farming activity. Such projects are central to plans aimed at improving production conditions, supporting growers and enhancing the long-term resilience of the sector.
While detailed operational plans have not been announced, the project’s progress indicates that key groundwork is now largely in place. The remaining work is expected to focus on finalising facilities and ensuring the site is ready for its intended agricultural use.
Completion Target Set for 2026
Officials have indicated that the project is scheduled to be completed before the close of 2026. The latest inspection underlined the importance of maintaining momentum during the final stages and coordinating between government bodies involved in agriculture, infrastructure and development.
Once completed, the scheme is expected to add to Bahrain’s portfolio of agricultural initiatives and support national efforts to expand sustainable farming opportunities.
