LuLu Group Chairman Yusuff Ali MA has publicly acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s crucial role in maintaining uninterrupted food supply chains from India to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This assurance comes amid the escalating conflict in West Asia, which poses significant risks to supply continuity in the region.
Meeting in New Delhi
On March 26, Yusuff Ali met with PM Modi in New Delhi, where he updated the prime minister on LuLu Group’s initiatives to sustain food availability across GCC markets. Following the meeting, Yusuff Ali took to social media to express his sincere appreciation for the support that has ensured the steady flow of essential food items despite challenging circumstances.
Focus on Supply Chain Stability
The discussions revolved around safeguarding the supply of key food products that are widely consumed by both expatriates and local populations within the Gulf region. These talks also emphasized the importance of reinforcing supply chains and stabilizing prices to mitigate the impact of ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Logistical Efforts and Imports
LuLu Group highlighted its logistical endeavors, having facilitated the import of approximately 15,000 tonnes of both perishable and non-perishable food products. These imports have been conducted through a combination of chartered flights, cargo vessels, and standard shipping services originating from various locations across India. Notably, the group has successfully operated 34 dedicated chartered flights and plans to increase this number as needed.
