EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Johnsonville is recalling approximately 22,672 lbs of its cheddar bratwurst product due to possible contamination of foreign material, specifically hard plastic. That announcement was made by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Saftey and Inspection Service Saturday.
The following product were made on February 5, 2025:
- 19-oz. Sealed firm tray packages containing five pieces of “Johnsonville BRATS CHEDDAR Bratwurst” and the package code B9FOD.
The bratwurst product has the establishment number of “Est. 1647″ on the front of the label. Wisconsin is among the list of several states impacted by the recall.
Johnsonville notified the FSIS it had gotten two consumer complaints reporting hard plastic material found in the bratwurst product. There have been no confirmed reports of injury due to consumption of the bratwurst, according to the press release. The FSIS is recommending to seek medical help if you have been injured by consuming the impacted bratwurst product.
The FSIS is recommending consumers either throw the bratwurst away or take them back to the store. The concern with the agency is the potential of consumers unknowingly having the impacted bratwurst products in their freezers.
