Frozen Meal Recalls Spark Nationwide Warning: List of Products Affected

Frozen meals by Stouffer’s and Lean Cuisine have been recalled due to the possible presence of a wood-like material in the meals.

Newsweek reached out to Nestle USA, the company initiating the recall, and a spokesperson directed Newsweek to its press release.

Why It Matters

Numerous recalls have been initiated in 2025 due to the potential for the following: damaged products, foodborne illness, contamination and undeclared food allergens.

Millions of Americans experience food sensitivities or food allergies every year. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the nine “major” food allergens in the U.S. are eggs, milk, fish, wheat, soybeans, Crustacean shellfish, sesame, tree nuts and peanuts.

What To Know

In an FDA alert on Tuesday, Nestle USA initiated the voluntary recall after customers contacted the company, “Including one potential choking incident to date.”

The products impacted by the recall are a limited batch of Lean Cuisine® Butternut Squash Ravioli, Lean Cuisine® Spinach Artichoke Ravioli, Lean Cuisine® Lemon Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry and STOUFFER’S® Party Size Chicken Lasagna, the alert says.

The products were distributed nationwide from September 2024 to March 2025. The products were also produced from August 2024 to March 2025, the FDA alert notes.
