Dhofar Fisheries and Food Company exports ‘Made in Oman’ products to 20 countries worldwide

Many of ‘Made in Oman’ products enjoy high quality characteristics and the ability to compete and be present in local and global markets. The products of Dhofar Fisheries and Food Company, a company investing in Raysut Industrial City since 1997, are present today in 20 countries around the world.

Hamid bin Ali Al Nahdi, the Company’s General Manager, stated that due to increasing demands on its products, the company has increased the capacity from 1,600 tons to 11,000 tons of refrigerated warehouses equipped with latest technology to store sufficient quantity of fish and sardines.

The company’s annual production volume has amounted to 23 million of tuna cans, 2.7 million of sardine cans, and 735 tons of fish oil. Al Nahdi pointed out that the company has established new food production lines, namely oats, crème caramel and jelly. “As planned, the actual operation of these lines will commence in the second quarter of 2021 and the marketing process will take place through local and foreign distribution companies in the Arab and African countries,” he informed.

The countries importing the company’s products have reached 20, which include Yemen, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Libya, Bahrain, Tunisia, Sudan, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey, Taiwan, Chile, Vietnam, Spain, Indonesia and Bangladesh.

In light of the current conditions imposed by coronavirus (COVID-19), Al Nahdi emphasised that the company has continued with its production and local and foreign promotion, while taking all precautionary measures into consideration and following the instructions circulated by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn.

Commenting on the job opportunities for the Omanis, Al Nahdi stated that the company pays great attention to this matter and is constantly working to provide job and training opportunities for the nationals. “The company provides job opportunities for male and female citizens within the production lines and administrative departments at a percentage exceeding 45 per cent,” he added.

Established in 1997 in Raysut Industrial City, Dhofar Fisheries and Food Company commenced actual production in 2000 in canned tuna and sardines, and fish oil with the aim of enhancing food security in the Sultanate through its products and providing direct and indirect job opportunities for the citizens.
