Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak has said that supporting Bahrain’s young people is fundamental to the country’s wider development goals. Speaking to participants in the eighth edition of the national leadership programme HIPO-YOUTH, he described youth investment as a cornerstone of Bahrain’s progress and stressed that the future will be shaped through the active involvement of young citizens.
Mr Al Mubarak highlighted the value of building strong teamwork and encouraging creativity, initiative and innovation among participants. He said these qualities help young people move from learning into action, strengthening their ability to contribute to national development.
Leadership programme targets active youth participation
The minister addressed attendees during interactive sessions as part of the programme’s focus on personal development and leadership skills. The initiative was organised by the Youth Affairs Ministry in cooperation with the Bahrain Society for Human Resource Management at Youth City 2030.
Skills transfer and development opportunities
Al Mubarak also emphasised the importance of transferring expertise and creating opportunities that allow young people to grow their leadership capabilities. He referred to Bahraini youth as a key national resource, arguing that empowering them supports long-term progress across sectors.
Minister outlines ministry priorities
During the discussion, he set out the ministry’s main areas of work, including municipal and agricultural services, food security and environmental initiatives. He also pointed to ongoing efforts such as an afforestation plan aiming to plant 3.6 million trees by 2035, alongside the Bahrain Mangrove Initiative, which targets a fourfold increase in mangrove trees by 2035.
