The Green Factory Seal program is designed to encourage factories to adopt sustainable methods, increase resource efficiency, and comply with environmental regulations. These efforts ultimately boost the competitiveness of Bahrain’s industrial sector and align it with global sustainability frameworks.
Alignment with National Strategies and Environmental Goals
This initiative complements Bahrain’s Industry Sector Strategy for 2022 to 2026, aligning with the national agenda on circular carbon economy, responsible environmental and social governance (ESG), and the adoption of low-emission industrial practices. The strategy includes partnerships with private sector entities to incentivize and support factories in their sustainable transformation.
Enhanced Criteria and New Partnerships
Recently updated criteria for the Green Factory Seal incorporate modern sustainability requirements, including tree planting during Bahrain’s Tree Week and mandates for industrial waste reuse, renewable energy uptake, ESG policy implementation, emissions monitoring, greenhouse gas accounting, and carbon capture technologies. The initiative has also welcomed new partners, such as BBK, offering concessional financing, and Copa Company, providing competitively priced solar and sustainability solutions.
