Over 800,000 Units of Cream Cheese Recalled Due to Salmonella Contamination

Consumers should return this product to its place of purchase or dispose immediately.

Before you have your morning bagel, check your fridge: The FDA has recalled 836,721 units of cream cheese products due to a potential Salmonella contamination. This includes products from Dutch Farms, Fareway, Happy Farms (Aldi), Hy Vee, Kroger, Our Family, Schnuck, Essential Everyday, Dunkin, Piggly Wiggly, and Schreiber Foods cream cheeses.

If you have eaten any of the now-recalled products and developed any symptoms of Salmonella, seek medical attention as soon as possible. Symptoms of infection may include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 12 to 72 hours after eating contaminated food. Otherwise, healthy adults may be sick for four to seven days. However, diarrhea may be so severe in some cases that patients require hospitalization.

The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), online correspondence indicates that the recall was initiated on May 3, 2024, and is ongoing.

The recalled products were distributed in California, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin. They were also shipped to Puerto Rico.

Schreiber Foods Inc. is encouraging customers to dispose of their products or return them to their place of purchase immediately.
